Currently I work part-time as an independent Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist for both adults and young people and provide CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) supervision on request. I am a supervisor on the CBT for Children and Young People IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) training at the University of Exeter.
I practiced in the NHS since qualification in 1986, as a Registered Mental Health Nurse. I worked in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services for 35 years which involved the assessment and intervention of young people to meet their mental health needs. My role included participating in a Family Therapy team, as well as offering Group Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy. I worked latterly as a Clinical Team Manager. I retired from the NHS in 2019.
In my many years of clinical practice, I have been informed by the following psychological therapy modalities: Psycho-dynamic, systemic and group analytic psychotherapy. I believe having a good engagement and therapeutic relationship is key to any therapy and the same applies to my Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy role.
I am registered with the British Association for Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies: babcp.com
